The weirdest, most baffling or downright insane movie posters on the planet.
-
The Super Riders – Lebanese lobby card #2
Lobby card from Lebanon for Japanese fantasy flick
-
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Turkey)
One of my favorite posters in my entire collection. Read on to find out why...
-
Narcosatanicos Diabolicos
Wacky Mexican sex comedy, somehow involving drugs and Satan
-
Tijuana Caliente (Mexico)
-
Kara Simsek 1 a.k.a. Turkish Rocky
Turkish cinema is known for its many 'remakes' of Western box-office successes. This one is better known as "Turkish Rocky" for obvious reasons. Oddly, the Turkish title "Kara Simsek" was also used for the "Knight Rider" TV series, perhaps explaining the numeral appended to the title of this movie. Serdar also starred in "Turkish Rambo".
-
House of 1000 Dolls (Turkey)
Is there really a Grindhouse God?
-
Crocodile Evil (Thailand)
Another freaky-looking Thai poster for a weird-ass 80's Hong Kong horror flick. I'm going to pretend that crocodile isn't doing what I think its doing between that girl's legs.
-
Robbery of the Mummies of Guanajuato – lobby card #2
Mexican wrestlers + walking corpses + ass-kicking dwarf-thugs = the perfect cinematic accompaniment to pizza and beer
-
Shaitani Dracula (Pakistan)
Looks like the special effects department raided the dollar store after Halloween in preparation for this Bollywood horror production.
-
Tatar Ramazan (Turkey)
Eye-catching art for what looks like a badass Turkish revenge flick but probably isn't.
-
Hollow-Eyed Ghost (Thailand)
I know nothing about this Thai horror film, except that the title means "Hollow-Eyed Ghost". But judging by the stunningly macabre artwork, I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled for this one.
-
Ramo a.k.a. Turkish Rambo (Turkey)
Original poster for Turkish "Rambo" remake which seems to have lost a consonant.
-
The King of Comedy (Turkey)
The Turks prove they were masters of 'bait and switch' with this poster that's completely inappropriate for the film it's advertising. While the image screams 80's porn, the film is actually Martin Scorsese's "The King of Comedy" (the Turkish title literally means 'king of laughter') starring Robert DeNiro and Jerry Levis, I mean Lewis.
-
The Super Riders – Lebanese lobby card #1
Lobby card from Lebanon for Japanese fantasy flick
-
Pecador (Poland)
Hard-drinking masked wrestler battles space aliens and Sasquatch in this low-budget, feature-length Polish homage to Mexican wrestling movies by Dawid Gryza and Paweł Kaczmarek.
-
Rat Savior
Is it horror? Is it comedy? Is it pretentious arthouse fare? Your guess is as good as mine.
-
Abby (Mexico)
Blaxploitation meets demonic possession, directed by William Girdler. So why is there a shot from a Jean Rollin film on here?
-
King Kong Ki Waapsi (India)
Indian poster for a film titled "King Kong Returns" which is most likely 1986's 'King Kong Lives', directed by John Guillermin, redubbed and released in India to cash in on the success of Peter Jackson's 'King Kong'. It's certain that 'producer' Raju Bahruz had nothing to do with the production of the film.
-
Dog Lay Afternoon (Turkey)
Sick sick sick ! This Italian sleaze sundae features Ilona 'Cicciolina' Staller and was written and co-directed by actor George Eastman (a.k.a. Luigi Montefiori), star of many sleazy Italian films. Oddly, Joe D'Amato had nothing to do with this film.
-
Asi Kabadayi (Turkey)
The film's title roughly translates to "Rebel Bully", but trash-cinephiles know this film better as 'Turkish Wolverine' for obvious reasons. Starring Serdar, Turkey's Sylvester Stallone, who also starred in 'Turkish Rambo' and 'Turkish Rocky'.
-
Detournement de mineur
-
Kedi Karateci (Turkey)
I'm a sucker for tacky poster art which is why I scarfed up this Turkish poster for unknown martial arts film immediately. The title literally means "Karate Cat" though this is most likely a retitling.
-
Friday the 13th (Turkey)
Turkish one-sheet for the first entry in the "Friday the 13th" franchise, though the main image, cast and director (Steve Miner) would suggest that this is really for "Friday the 13th, Part 2".
-
Agent 00 – Turkish lobby card #1
Turkish lobby card for Filipino midgetsploitation, starring Weng Weng!!!
-
Robo Force (Pakistan)
At first glance, that's Linda Blair and her heaving breasts from 'Savage Streets'. But once you get to the bottom-half, the fraud is exposed. This is a Pakistani poster 'mash-up' for a 'Robocop'-inspired comedy from Hong Kong called "Robo Force", a.k.a. "I Love Maria".
